• Animal Control Animal Services

  Municipal Ordinance 205.050 requires anyone keeping a dog over six months old within City limits to obtain an annual City dog license displayed on the dog's collar. Dogs found without a license tag are held at the City's kennel facility.

• Building Regulations Planning

  Building permits are required before construction projects on commercial and residential properties, including roofing, new construction, electrical/mechanical upgrades, additions, some interior remodeling and storage buildings. Initial consultation is with Strafford Building Development Services at build@straffordmo.net; inspections are scheduled at 417-736-2154, Ext 103, with 24-hour notice. The City has adopted the International Building Codes.

  Office of the City Clerk, available Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for questions about Board of Aldermen agendas and minutes; bills, ordinances, resolutions, municipal codes and policies; contracts; Sunshine Law requests; taxes; business and liquor licenses; elections; and Planning and Zoning Commission, Board of Adjustment and Park Committee agendas.

• Parks Parks & Recreation

  City parks include Howard Smith Park (two pavilions and a splash pad), Croxdale Community Park (one pavilion), and the Delp Historical Route 66 and Veteran's Memorial Park (one pavilion). Contact City Hall at 417-736-2154 for pavilion rental availability.

• Public Works Department Public Works

  The Strafford Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining drinking water infrastructure, the wastewater management system, street repair and snow removal, and parks. Seasonal services: winter snow removal, spring citywide cleanup and limb pickup, summer park maintenance, and fall leaf and limb pickup. Report broken water lines, street damage or sewer problems to City Hall at (417) 736-2154.

• Strafford Municipal Court Courts

  Strafford Municipal Court, the judicial branch of city government and part of the state judicial system, tries ordinance violations for which the maximum fine does not exceed $500.00 or 90 days in county jail. In 2026 court is generally held the first Thursday of each month at 1:30 p.m.; in 2027 it is generally held the first Friday of each month at 11:00 a.m. Clerk hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

  Strafford Police Department, 125 S. Jefferson Street, Strafford, MO 65757. The office phone is not monitored 24 hours a day; for emergencies dial 9-1-1. The department lists a Police Chief, a Sergeant, four officers and two School Resource Officers.

• Utilities Utilities

  City utilities office handling water, sewer and trash billing, deposits and service applications. Utilities are billed on the first business day of the month and due on the 15th. Trash service is mandatory, billed monthly on the utility bill, and provided by Republic Services. Wastewater is conveyed to the City of Springfield, MO for treatment. For after-hours and weekend utility emergencies call 911.
