• Building Permits & Business Licenses Planning

  Issues business licenses and permits, building permits and certificates of occupancy, conducts building construction inspections, reviews building plans, and works directly with the Planning and Zoning Commission. Business licenses and permits are obtained at City Hall, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

• Central Fire Department Fire

  Central Volunteer Fire Department protects approximately 8000 people in an area of 45 square miles, operating out of 2 stations, with an ISO rating of 3. It has mutual aid agreements with Clemson University Fire, Six Mile Volunteer Fire Department, Liberty Fire Department and Norris Volunteer Fire Department.

• Central Municipal Court Courts

  Adjudicates traffic and misdemeanor offenses and violations of Town and State laws occurring within the town limits of Central, subject to a fine not exceeding $500.00 or imprisonment not exceeding thirty days, or both. A summary court under the unified court system of South Carolina, located in Central Town Hall, open 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday.

• Central Police Department Police

  Provides law enforcement services to the Town of Central 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The department comprises 19 sworn officers, 4 reserve officers, 1 civilian employee, and 1 department chaplain, including a Code Enforcement Officer and two School Resource Officers.

• Main Street Program Economic Development

  Main Street Central, a part of Main Street South Carolina, is a technical assistance program that empowers communities as they revitalize historic downtowns, encouraging economic development and historic preservation. Supported by a Main Street Advisory Board.

• Parks & Recreation Department Parks & Recreation

  Provides park facilities and recreation programs, including youth sports for ages 5-17 (some in cooperation with Clemson Parks and Recreation). Facilities include Bolick Sports Fields, Central Baseball Fields and Playgrounds, the Central Historic Depot, and Grand Central Station Disc Golf Course; the Central-Clemson Indoor Recreation Center is a joint venture with the City of Clemson.

• Sanitation Utilities

  Provides weekly residential sanitation pickup to all residents inside town limits, with a rollcart provided to each customer, and to customers outside town limits who are within the route (who must purchase a rollcart for $68.75).

• Town Administrator's Office Administration

  The Town Administrator is the chief administrator of the Town of Central and is appointed by Town Council. Responsibilities include overseeing the performance of all Town departments, implementing policies adopted by Town Council, and developing the Town's annual budget.

• Town Clerk Clerk

  The office of Town Clerk provides clerical, record keeping and administrative functions to the Town Council and Town Manager. Responsibilities include collecting and maintaining business licenses, managing requests to speak to Council, preparing Council agendas, maintaining records, and recording Town Council meeting minutes. Also receives Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.

• Water Department Utilities

  Town of Central Water Department, reachable through Town Hall. Utility bills can be paid online, by mail, by automatic bank draft, or in person at Town Hall.
