• Animal Services Animal Services

  The DeSoto County Animal Shelter enforces the county Animal Control Ordinance, collects stray animals, adopts out eligible animals and promotes responsible pet ownership.

• Chancery Clerk Clerk

  The Chancery Clerk serves as Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, Clerk of the Chancery Court and County Auditor. The office has three departments: Land Records, Court Records, and Taxes (Delinquent Tax and Homestead Exemption).

• Circuit Clerk Clerk

  The Circuit Clerk serves as clerk of the county and circuit courts, draws and qualifies juries, issues marriage licenses, records professional licenses, and registers citizens to vote.

• Coroner

  The Coroner is the Chief Medical Examiner Investigator for DeSoto County, investigating the circumstances of all deaths in the county, determining cause and manner of death, and filing death certificates with the State of Mississippi. The published phone is for emergencies.

  The County Administrator, appointed by the Board of Supervisors, carries out the Board's policies, prepares the budget and supervises county operations; the office also generates the Board of Supervisors' agenda.

  The Planning and Building offices maintain the county's comprehensive plan, zoning map and ordinances, review rezoning, subdivision and site plans, issue building permits, conduct inspections and license contractors. Staff serve the Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment.

• Road Management Public Works

  The DeSoto County Road Department, directed by a road manager appointed by the Board of Supervisors, maintains more than 650 miles of roads and 102 bridges in unincorporated DeSoto County, including roadside limb and debris pickup and mosquito spraying.

  The DeSoto County Sheriff's Office is the county's chief law enforcement agency and operates the Adult Detention Facility, Juvenile Detention Facility, patrol, investigations, civil process and court services.

• Tax Assessor's Office Assessment

  The Tax Assessor maintains the tax maps, assists homeowners with Homestead Exemption applications, prepares the tax roll for the Board of Equalization, and values real, commercial and personal property for the county and cities.

• Tax Collector Finance

  The Tax Collector, elected countywide to a four-year term, collects taxes on real and personal property, mobile homes, automobiles, motorcycles, motor homes, trailers and airplanes. Branch offices are in Olive Branch and Horn Lake.

• Veteran Services Human Services
